Letter: Don’t tolerate ‘bad apples’ https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

There is no reason that this year Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back by the police in Wisconsin, or De’Von Bailey was shot three times in the back and killed by police in Colorado, or Rayshard Brooks was shot two times in the back and killed by police in Georgia, and on and on and sadly on.

And lest we forget George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and many, many other Black people who have lost their lives when the police have “choked” — an excuse our president uses for their actions, just a few “bad apples,” as he says.

Why do we tolerate bad apples in the police force? Do surgeons choke when they are operating on you? Do airline pilots choke with a plane full of passengers? Do teachers choke with the pressures they feel?

It is our duty to eliminate the bad apples on the police force as well as in the White House. We can accomplish the latter by voting on Nov. 3.
