Sam Johnson is no longer on Real Salt Lake’s roster.
The club announced Saturday that the forward and the organization mutually agreed to the termination of his contract. The club said in a statement that it would not comment further on the matter.
Johnson was under investigation by Major League Soccer for hosting at least one 100-person party at his home, which violates Utah’s COVID-19 protocols. A person was shot earlier this month at one of the parties, leading to his suspension by the club.
Johnson has scored 10 goals for RSL since being signed to a Designated Player contract on Feb. 4, 2019.
