Letter: Burgess Owens isn’t fit for Congress https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Burgess Owens has made it clear that he is not the person to represent the 4th Congressional District in Washington. His statements at the recent forum confirm that.

Let’s look at some examples. Owens stated that bipartisanship is not needed. What would he propose in its place? What we have now. That has led to Congress not functioning at all. Rep. Ben McAdams said that we need to elect people who are committed to fixing what is broken.

Owens also said that there are people who don’t love our culture and seek to destroy it. Who are these people? What culture is he talking about? McAdams said that people should work across the aisle.

Owens said not to tell us we’re racist because we’re white. Who is we? I believe that Mr. Owens is Black. Is he claiming to be white? McAdams talked about working constructively, understanding and listening.

Owens said that the top economic priority is to help Trump reduce regulations and make tax cuts. For whom? What regulations in particular? McAdams said that Congress needs to pass pandemic aid to help struggling Americans.

Owens said we need people to come here, work, benefit our businesses and then go home. McAdams wants to help Dreamers become American citizens and wants more high-tech visas.

One of these individuals comes off sounding like an immature, undereducated child (does that sound familiar to anyone?), and the other comes off sounding like someone who understands the issues and is willing to work with everyone to get things done for Americans.

There could not be a starker difference and a clearer choice. Burgess Owens is the wrong person to send to Washington. Vote to send Ben McAdams, and reason, back to Washington.
