A member of Salt Lake City’s fleet team was killed in an accident while at work, according to a news release from the office of Mayor Erin Mendenhall.
The city is not providing a name or cause of death at this time.
“Every person who works for Salt Lake City is part of a family," Mendenhall said in the news release. "The work our city team does is because we love this city and we want to serve it, and this loss is a tragic one that impacts us all.”
In an email to city employees obtained by The Salt Lake Tribune, Mendenhall said that the death had affected her “deeply” and she thanked frontline workers “whose jobs are inherently challenging.”
