Letter: Those who work to silence free speech https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Recently the Utah Fraternal Order of Police attacked a public school teacher for having the audacity to wear a Black Lives Matter shirt to school. Apparently the police union is upset that a school teacher would support social justice.

Not to be outdone, the Utah Sheriffs’ Association staged a protest at The Salt Lake Tribune’s printing press over a cartoon that called out the presence of racism within the law enforcement community. Sadly, our sheriffs did not question the possibility that racism may be within their ranks and immediately went into ready, fire, aim mode.

Never one to miss an opportunity to be on the wrong side of history, Rep. Chris Stewart piled on, attacking The Tribune for publishing that editorial cartoon.

As we enjoy this long weekend, remember that the people above are all in positions of power to silence free speech and apparently have no qualms doing that.
