Friday bands played a selection of music from the 60s and 70s, with covers from the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, The Doors, U2, The Rolling Stones and more.
Geezer Fest started in 2005 as a backyard concert, with a bunch of bands from the Provo area that played together back in the 1970s. Geezerfest organizer, Alan Breeze, said the numbers have grown since partnering with Orem City in the past 5 years, with a crowd estimated as 1,700 last year.
Due to the coronavirus, the festival is operating under strict conditions as prescribed by the Utah County Health Department, Breeze explained. Masks are given out to anyone who needs one and 2,000 bottles of hand-sanitizer were donated for participants and music fans.
“We really were blessed that Orem City kept it on the calendar, when they cancelled everything else out,” Breeze said
